Gautham Karthik was born on 12 September 1989 in Madras, Tamil Nadu. He made his acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s Kadal (2013).

Gautham was born to Karthik Muthuraman and Ragini Karthik. He is the grandson of actor R. Muthuraman.
He has two brothers named Thiran Karthik, Ghayn Karthik.
Gautham Karthik belongs to the Kallar caste and was brought up in a Hindu family.

Career
While in college, film-maker Mani Ratnam approached Karthik Gautham to cast him in Kadal in 2012.
His second film, Yennamo Yedho, was a remake of the Telugu film, Ala Modalaindi released in April 2014, while Gautham’s performance was praised by the critics.
In 2018, he appeared in Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren as Harish, in Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu as Veera, and in Mr Chandramouli as Raaghav.
In 2019, he was featured in the Devarattam movie which is a caste-based movie with violence coated family sentiments.
In 2021, he is filming for Navarasadagger and Pathu Thaladagger, set to be released at the end of 2021.
Other upcoming movies are Sippai dagger and Anandham Vilayadum Veedu.
