Ayushmann Khurrana was born on 14 September 1984 (age 34years) in Chandigarh, India to P. Khurrana and Poonam Khurrana. He has a  younger brother name Aparshakti Khurana, who is an actor, cricket-host and television host.

Ayushmann married to Tahira Kashyap on November 2011. He has two beautiful child Virajveer Khurrana (son was born on 2 January 2012) and Varushka Khurrana (daughter was born on 21 April 2014).

School life & Career

Ayushmann did his schooling from St. John’s High School, Chandigarh and selected medical stream for +1 & +2.DAV College in Chandigarh. He majored in English literature and has a master's degree in Mass Communication from the School of Communication Studies, Punjab University, in Chandigarh. After his college, he was seriously in theatre for five years in Chandigarh.

After completing his graduation in Journalism, he started his job as a radio jockey at BIG FM, Delhi. In that, he hosted the big show Chai – Maan Na Maan, Main Tera Ayushmann, with that, he has won the award as Young Achievers Award in 2007.

After his career as Radio Jockey, he shifted and became a Video Jockey on MTV with Pepsi MTV Wassup, The Voice of Youngistaan, and more.
Apart from hosting the second season of MTV Rock On and India's Got Talent on Colors, Khurrana was also a part of the anchoring team of Extra Innings T20 for Indian Premier League Season 3 on SET Max with Gaurav Kapur, Samir Kochhar and Angad Bedi.

In 2012, he made his Bollywood debut with Shoojit Sircar's Vicky Donor opposite Yami Gautam. For this film, he also sang the song "Pani Da Rang" composed by him and Rochak Kohli.

Ayushmann went on to receive many accolades for his performance, including the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut and the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer. He won all the debut awards for Vicky Donor.

Some lesser known facts about Ayushmann Khurrana:

  • At the age of 4, when he watched Madhuri Dixit‘s ‘Tezaab’ (1988) at a theatre, he decided to become an actor.
  • His mother is of half-Burmese descent.
  • His father also wanted him to be an actor.
  • According to Ayushman, he learned acting from her grandmother. She used to mimic Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar.
  • When he told his family & friends that he wanted to be an actor, they made fun of him. Not only that, he was initially rejected at some auditions with excuses such as his accent was too Punjabi and he had too thick eyebrows.
  • When he was 16 years old, he met his would-be wife Tahira Kashyap for the first time and he told her that he would marry her.
  • Ayushman’s servant committed suicide in 2013 at his Goregaon apartment in Mumbai. However, Ayushman was not accused of that.
  • Apart from acting, he is also passionate about singing and in 2002, participated in a reality show “Channel [V] Popstars", and was the youngest contestants on the show (aged 17).
  • In 2004, his life took a turn when he won the  MTV Roadies (Season 2), at the age of 20.
